The Neotia Arts Trust was founded by the A Neotia Arts Trust Group in March 2016 with the simple aim of generating a space meant exclusively for Indian design aesthetics. Accordingly, the mission of the Trust includes:
The Trust primarily wishes to provide a platform or a launchpad, through the flagship event The India Story, to ensure the growth and development of Indian design elements, both within the country and abroad.
Though the initial driving force had been the inaugural edition of The India Story, the Trust seeks to encourage not just a showcase or an exposition but also branch out towards both pedagogy and performance in the coming years. Consequently, the NAT proposes to facilitate the same through its ancillary programs like workshops, concerts, and various other events.
The Trust aims to reach a broad spectrum of people through an array of exhibitions, educational initiatives, video and other media, and The India Story, to foster new talent as well as contextualize the Indian art scene in the context of the wider spectrum of world art.
The Trust also wishes to situate Kolkata as the epicenter of the annual events to develop the city as a viable place to host a design event of world-class proportions.
The primary goal of the Trust is to bring art out of the obfuscated, elite parlours of the connoisseurs and make it accessible to the layman. The idea is not simply to democratize art but to fuel and nurture an aesthetic consciousness.
The enhancement and dissemination of aesthetic experience is essential for the understanding of art. The Trust believes that an aesthetic and creative outlook can go a long way in overcoming narrow thought-processes and enrich the future of the nation.
Each set of annual activities of the Trust will ensure that a part of the proceeds will go to a cause (A name of such a cause is necessary here).
To recognize and appreciate creative talent, the Trust proposes to institute an annual design award (Name to be decided), to be given to fresh and innovative talent.
